LG Confirms UltraFine 5K Monitor Issue And Promises Immediate Repair

LG has finally confirmed and acknowledged that its UltraFine 5K monitor has a flaw. The Korean tech company has issued a statement and is already working on a repair program to address the issue.

UltraFine 5K monitors versus Wi-Fi signals. The UltraFine 5K monitors were launched together with the MacBook Pro back in October as its go-to display device. It was dubbed as the perfect companion to the MacBook Pro.

Unfortunately, the monitor has one flaw: it cannot operate when within 2 meters of a Wi-Fi router. This flaw has been present since the release of the monitor. The device has been plagued with complaints from affected customers who have reported the monitor flickering, going completely black, and flashing on and off.

The tech company's customer service team initially advised the customers to move the monitor two feet away from a Wi-Fi router. However, this solution is not permanent and so the Korean tech company has finally issued a statement to address it completely. In adition, the tech company is promising that all monitors manufactured after February 2017 will have improved shielding from Wi-Fi signals.

The tech company's statement reads, "Customers continuing to experience issues with their UltraFine displays are advised to contact their nearest LG customer center for prompt service." It further added,"LG apologizes for this inconvenience and is committed to delivering the best quality products possible so all LG UltraFine 27-inch 5K displays manufactured after February 2017 will be fitted with enhanced shielding."

Although the company's statement say that the issue only happens within 2 feet, it should be noted that the issue happens within 2 meters of a Wi-Fi router. This is based on customer reviews posted on the website for Apple's store.

The UltraFine 5K monitor currently has a rating of 1.5 stars on the Apple store which was where customers initially posted their frustrations. A 25% discount, which was offered at the time of its release and supposed to end on December 31, 2016, is still in effect. The extended 25% discount sale will run through March 31, 2017.
