Apple Could Release iPad Mini 5 As The iPad Pro Mini In March

The last iPad Mini was launched back in 2015 and Apple has yet to introduce a successor. Nearly two years after the iPad Mini 4's release, speculations are saying that the tech giant is gearing up to introduce the iPad Mini 5.

A possible iPad Mini 5 from Apple. It is speculated that the iPad Mini's successor is getting ready for a March release. The iPad Mini 5 could possibly be not the name used and it is widely believed that the next-gen tablet could instead sport the moniker iPad Pro Mini.

The iPad Mini 5, or iPad Pro Mini, could still sport a 7.9-inch Retina display although analysts are saying that it could come in 9.7, 10.5, and 12.9 inches. It could possibly feature improved resolution than 1536 by 2048 pixels and an all-aluminum chassis the same as the iPhone 6s and iPhone 7.

It is speculated that iPad Mini 5 will be 1mm thinner than its predecessor at 5mm. It is also expected to be lighter.

As far as performance is concerned, the tablet could run on either an A9 or A10 processor with an M9 co-processor. The tablet may have at least 3 gigabytes of RAM and come in three internal storage options namely 32 gigabytes, 64 gigabytes, and 128 gigabytes.

It may come pre-loaded with iOS 10.3. Although iOS 10.3 is currently in its beta phase, it could well be in its final form when the iPad Mini 5 is released.

With a thinner frame, the tablet could come with a smaller battery that does not compromise usage capabilities. Its cameras, however, could still feature only 8 megapixels at the rear and 1.2 megapixels up front. Other speculated features are 3D Touch and Apple Pencil support, water-resistance with IP68 certification, and a D-jack in place of the standard 3.5mm jack.

There are speculations that the iPad Mini 5 could be unveiled in March. Pricing could start at US$399.00.
