Dendrobium: Upcoming Electric Car Concept Inspired By An Orchid

The Dendrobium is an orchid-inspired electric car, which will be introduced globally in concept form at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show on March 7. The car was developed by Vanda Electrics in association with William Advanced Engineering.

The upcoming electric car is a two-seater hypercar that will feature a sleek and striking exterior along with an advanced e-powertrain. In a press release, the company from Singapore introduced the Dendrobium as their first ever home-grown supercar.

The electric car concept will have a prominent fascia courtesy of a large grill, rakish windshield and extended wheel arches. The all-electric concept features what looks to be sloped roofline and a distinct beltline. At the behind the car, a huge diffuser and wing dominate the rear section of the concept car which may provide better downforce for the car.

According to Vanda Electrics both, the doors and roof could be open automatically and open up in a theatrical manner. It will resemble a fully-blossomed Dendrobium flower like an orchid native to Singapore.

For the interior, the company claimed that it will be upholstered in Scottish leather courtesy of the Bridge of Weir Leather Company. The unique leather was used as they make them the latest in green tech allowing them to produce hides with low carbon. In this way, the company has extended its focus on the merging of technological advances and inspiration from nature.

The technical details about this hypercar have been kept secret so far. Though, it was reported last year that the car could boost by four Yasa electric motors with a total output of 1,500 horsepower and 4,000 newton-meters of torque.

In terms of styling, the Dendrobium is as outlandish as one would expect a concept to be with large wheel arches and a fighter jet-like cockpit. It will come with high rising wheels and a slim wedge-shaped profile. The electric car has automatic doors and roof which when open resemble the fully opened orchid.
