In the last few years, China has begun to mirror America’s buying habits. This sends a signal to the US car makers to start expanding their market over to China instead of the other way around. The market is already bigger than the US, which means Ford is able to grab a big piece of a growing sales pie.
The Verge reported that thanks to the rapid growth of China’s economy, they have developed a taste for American products and premium vehicles. Ford Raptor pickup is not a premium by any means, but it’s one of the leaders in its group and the executives are excited to see how the market reacts. Ford is sending the most aggressive and powerful truck and a global sales leader. Its off-road performance is unmatched and the truck has earned a loyal following around the globe. The trucks haven’t actually sold yet and the prices are not finalized.
The Ford Raptor pickup started selling in 2010 and has been one of the most popular members in the F series, Business Insider reported. The truck is part of the Ford Performance division which includes Mustangs, Ford Focus St, and Ford GT 2017. Ford Raptor pickup has been engineered to use lightweight aluminum in place of steel. It has 3-5 liter EcoBoost V6 engine and has 450 horsepower. Some reviewers have estimated that it takes about 6 seconds to go from 0 to 60mph.
Ford Raptor pickup uses the new 3.0inch FOX shocks that give the truck 13 inches of overall suspension travel in the front and 13.9 inches at the rear. According to Ford, this should result in a comfier on-road ride. To top that off, the truck has 6 different terrain mode presets. Normal and sport are for on-road driving, weather is for snow and wet roads, mud, and sand are for off road, and baja is for high-speed desert running. With its performance, Ford Raptor pickup should make a statement in China, where full-size pickup trucks are rare.
