Man Eats 28 Raw Eggs In One Sitting For Bet, Dies Shortly After (VIDEO)

A 20-year-old man from the North African country of Tunisia died this week after eating over two dozen raw eggs to try winning a bet. The man was dared by a group of friends to see how many he could eat in one sitting, and winning the bet cost him his life according to a report by news.com.au.

It is likely that the man, Dhaou Fatnassi died due to eating so many raw eggs at once, but the official cause of death has not been revealed. Police are currently investigating the incident according to IBN Live.

After winning the bet, Fatnassi complained of stomach issued and was taken to a hospital shortly after winning the bet. He was pronounced dead on arrival according to Fox News.

"Doctors were called in after the young man felt strong stomach pains, but he died before medical assistance could reach him," Tunisia's Shems FM radio station said in a report this week.

This is far from the first bet of this kind to cost someone there life however, as a Florida man passed away after eating an undisclosed number of worms and cockroaches. The bugs became lodged in his windpipe during a bug eating contest at a pet store according to The International Business Times.

Experts have mixed opinions on whether or not eating raw eggs are bad for you, though HealthMad states that it's probably not the best idea.

"The main concern is that raw eggs could contain a bacteria known as Salmonella enteritidis which is known to cause food poisoning," according to the report on raw eggs. "Statistics show that only about one in thirty thousand eggs contain this bacteria, but there's no way to tell by looking at it whether you have a 'bad egg.' "
