The 2013 Honda Accord was named the winner of the Cars.com Midsize Sedan Showdown which put the top six most popular midsize sedans priced under $26,000 against one another in a series of tests. The winner was announced this week in a press release issued by Honda.

The other 2013 vehicles that competed in the Midsize Sedan Showdown included the Ford Fusion, Toyota Camry, Hyundai Sonata, Kia Optima, and Nissan Altima.

"Nearly one in six new cars sold today is a midsize family sedan," said Patrick Olsen, Cars.com's Editor-in-Chief in the press release. "Midsize sedans are some of the most popular cars you'll see on the road. We test many different types of cars, but the midsize Showdown is one of the most important ones we do, because it provides practical shopping advice and expert insight for those looking to buy."

Experts from Cars.com, Motorweek and USA Today put the midsize sedans through tests to inspect different aspects like fuel efficacy, diving ability, comfort, and practicality. The tests included approximately 185 miles of driving a number of different types of roads to figure out if the actual fuel mileage matched the specific company's prediction for each midsize sedan.

Other tests included a day of "round-robin driving," where each vehicle was tested back-to-back on the same driving course. Experts also allotted a day where they judged different specifications like cargo, ride-quality, and seating capabilities.

"The Accord is one of the oldest and most trusted midsize sedans on the market," said Olsen in the press release. "With each redesign, the Accord continues to get better. The 2013 won our Showdown because of its high-end standard features, value for the money and great driving characteristics."
