Subaru is giving its new 2018 Legacy a major update that will bring the all-wheel drive sedan's look in line with the latest Impreza. The much-improved model will be making its debut at the Chicago Auto Show on February 9, but the car brand is already providing major details about the current changes ahead of sales that will start in the United States this summer.
The car highlights a sharper, more aggressive look than the current model. Installed with a new front fascia that includes angular cut-outs on each side for the optional LED fog lights. Razor-edged headlights also add character to the smoother designs that the sedan currently has. The revisions at the rear are less drastic and include a modified tailpipe shape that connects into the bumper.
The 2018 Legacy is the largest sedan in the midsize segment. The car is available in a 2.5i model equipped with a 175-hp 2.5 liter 4-cylinder Boxer engine, or the Legacy 3.6R with a 256-hp 3.6-liter 6-cylinder boxer engine. The two engines combined as standard with Lineartronic CVT with a manual mode and paddle shift control switches.
Meanwhile, the 2.5i will be offered in standard, Premium, and Sports trims and limited offers an option of 2.5i and 3.6R engines. Subaru Symmetrical AWD and Active Torque Vectoring are standards in all trims, making the car the only midsize sedan to use the all-wheel drive as standard on all models.
Subaru combed through the car's chassis in an effort to enhance comfort and drivability. Starting with its suspension, dampers were re-tuned to help lessen initial impacts of bumps while also helping to lessen body roll. In addition, improvements were also applied to the electric power steering and the brake pedal feels in order to provide a fascinating drive.
Subaru's all-new 2018 Legacy debuts with much improved interior materials, redesigned center console, and new sportier looking steering wheel. On the other hand, Subaru's newest Starlink multimedia system now provides quicker performance, eight additional apps, and the smartphone integration with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as usual.
