The Mercedes-AMG E63 Estate S Wagon is the whole package. It is fast, practical, and reliable. And most importantly, it can also drift!
AMG. Mercedes-AMG is the high-performance division of the luxury automobile maker Mercedes-Benz. The high-performance division has its own team of independent engineers who manufacture and customize the Mercedes-AMG vehicles.
Originally, AMG was an independent engineering first which specialized in performance improvements for vehicles from Mercedes-Benz. Daimler-Benz decided to take controlling interesting of it slowly until it became the sole owner in 2005.
2018 AMG S 4Matic+. The high-performance version of the E-class sedan is one of the most distinctly tuned out of the lot. This is because the first project car of the AMG engineers was the AMG Hammer which used a W124-body E-class as its platform. The four-door hot rod had a 355 horsepower V8 engine and is considered to be a rare and mystical beast in the automotive world.
The AMG Hammer, as iconic as it is, can't out battle the 2018 Mercedes-AMG E63 Estate 4Matic+ S Wagon. It sports as power 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine. It produces an amazing 563 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque. While this is already very impressive, the S Wagon is even more powerful.
The S Wagon also uses a 4Matic+ AMG-exclusive system that has a continuously variable torque that is divided from front to rear. The S Wagon can get 604 horsepower with 626 lb-ft of torque.
The amazingly fast AMG S station wagon can do 0-62 mph in 3.5 seconds while the regular Estate can do it in 3.6 seconds. Both models are limited to 155 mph but can reach a top speed of 180mph with the AMG Driver's Package. In addition, both are all-wheel drive and sport nine-speed automatic gearboxes.
Apart from its extra horsepower and torque, the S Wagon also has one more fun feature. It also gets a fun Drift Mode. The front-axle is decoupled from the rear which thus makes the AMG station wagon rear-wheel drive. In addition, it also has dynamic engine mounts and bigger breaks.
The Mercedes-AMG E63 Estate S Wagon may just be the perfect car for those who want the best of both worlds. On the one hand, it's practical enough to carry your family. But one the other hand, car and drifting enthusiasts can still have fun with it through its Drift Mode. Expect to see this beast of a car at next month's Geneva Motor Show.
