Xbox One and Xbox One S should not fret as Microsoft has assured that both platforms will still be supported despite that coming of a new "mega-powerful" console. Project Scorpio and its massively improved specs will hit stores during the holiday period.

Gamespot has reported that Phil Spencer, Xbox boss, assured fans via his official Twitter page that both Xbox One and Xbox One S will still be supported for years to come. This statement comes at the heels of a fan expressing concern for the earlier released platforms. According to the fan's tweet, Project Scorpio could make Xbox One and Xbox One S obsolete consoles.

Microsoft's Project Scorpio plays games which are available on both Xbox One and Xbox One S. It also supports peripheral for the earlier-mentioned systems. In fact, the all-new console will feature a full 4K HDR gaming experience and sport an 8-core AMD custom CPU with integrated AMD graphics with 6 teraflops of performance.

Relatively, the setup between Project Scorpio and Xbox One is that same as that of PS4 and PS4 Pro. But Scorpio has been intended to be at the higher-end option to complement the said console.

Meanwhile, according to Express UK, Microsoft has claimed "high-fidelity VR experience" for Scorpio. However, it has since been removed from its official website. The VR support might ride together with the new console upon its launch.

In other Project Scorpio-related news, avid gamers and fans may want to hold off on their plans for preordering the console. They may have to wait just until games running on the console are unveiled, according to Spencer.

It has been reported that Project Scorpio might come out of the open during the E3. Its price tag could be above most premium consoles. But Microsoft is yet to confirm the official release date and price for the next-gen "mega-powerful" console.
