Alpine is expected to launch its latest sports car in the upcoming Geneva Motor Show this March. Prior to its debut, the reborn French automaker has released more teasers to excite car enthusiasts.
The new sports car from Alpine is expected to be called A120. This new flagship is coming out with outstanding aerodynamics.
An Alpine spokesperson discussed further this outstanding aerodynamics. It was mentioned that the new design takes into much consideration the air flow as a key factor in the performance and efficiency aspects of the new sports car. The staff explained that the latest sports car will feature two main components, such as the new flat floor and rear diffuser.
The flat floor is a technique which stemmed from the technology of high-level motor racing. Whereas, the rear diffuser, which is placed under the rear bumper, will enable significant downforce and outstanding stability. The combination of these two new components will make the new A120 to have the outstanding aerodynamics, AutoCar has noted.
The two new components also meant the new sports car no longer need a rear spoiler. This also resulted to sporting a similar sleek design of the original A110.
Furthermore, the French automaker has begun receiving advance bookings for the upcoming A120 through its smartphone app. Alpine offered a limited supply of the Premiere Edition variants for the first 1955 units that will be booked. Each unit has a price tag of $64,500 (€60,000) after tax and will be available in 12 European countries first. Those who want to avail of the Premiere Edition is just required to make a deposit of $2,150 (€2,000). This Premiere Edition can be availed in three color variants: black, blue and white.
Alpine also revealed its plan to extend the Premiere Edition sales to Japan and UK. However, the special units will only be made available months later. In addition, other countries will also get to enjoy this new sports car, but the automaker has not revealed the target release date yet.
