Roger Federer and His Hilarious Mercedes-Benz SL Ad [VIDEO]

Tennis superstar Roger Federer was in a very funny Mercedes-Benz commercial late last year. In particular, he was driving a 2017 Mercedes-Benz SL63 and other iconic SL's.

The tennis player has most recently bested Rafael Nadal and took home the Australian Open title. That was his 18th Grand Slam victory. At the age of 35, he was the oldest man to ever win a Grand Slam singles title in 45 years.

The Swiss tennis player has been endorsing Mercedes-Benz products since 2010. As the German car manufacturer's brand ambassador he has endorsed the following cars: the 2017 SL-Class, the SLS AMG Roadster, the GLA-Class, and the AMG GLE63 Coupe.

SL Roadster "Timeless" Commercial. Mercedes-Benz teamed up with the Australian Open title winner to highlight its SL Roadster. Entitled "Timeless," the video features both the tennis superstar and the Mercedes SL evolve into multiple forms.

The video uses CGI and great editing to transport Roger Federer across different eras. First, he is transported back to the time of tennis icon Rod Laver where he is seen driving a gorgeous red Mercedes 300SL Roadster. In the video, he is in the streets of Paris and he meets and "plays" Laver, who praises both his talent and the car. In the next shot, he is in the 1980s. He displays outbursts similar to John McEnroe. His 300SL has transformed into an elegant W113 Pagoda from the 1970s.

In the third shot, he is seen donning Agassi's mullet and suddenly the W113 Pagoda one again transforms. This time it is now an R107 SL. In the final shot, Federer plays himself and is driving a brand new SL. He is driving a 2017 Mercedes-AMG SL63 down a coastal road.

The SL stands for Sportlich-Leight or Sport Lightweight. The current R231 SL-Class is very lightweight and made almost entirely out of strong lightweight aluminum. The SL 450 Roadster is the most basic SL-Class with a twin-turbo V6. It has a retail price of $86,950. Federer's 2017 Mercedes-AMG SL63 Roadster costs around $151,350.

The next-generation Mercedez-Benz SL-Class won't arrive until 2019 for the 2020 model. Will there be another Roger Federer advertisement before then or will he still be a tennis champion by the 2019 release?
