Through icy roads in Portland, Maine, the 2017 Dodge Challenger GT was taken out for a test drive in the hopes of proving its ability to maintain its impressive features with unusual terrains. The drive proved that the vehicle was made for complexity.
The Icy Terrain. The all-wheel drive 2017 Dodge Challenger GT posed itself on the first ramp and its 19-inch wheels were unstirred by the complexity of icy terrain. Although the model maintained its design similar to its predecessors, the drive proved it maintains its all-wheel drive feature irrespective of the terrain.
The Specs. As reported by Auto Blog, is powered by a Pentastar V8 supercharged engine which could generate 305hp and 268 lb.-ft. of torque. The V6 engine was updated last 2016 but the model now parades in a V8 as the 2017 Dodge Challenger GT AWD. In fact, the model transformed into a more fuel-efficient vehicle.
It has been hooked to FCA's TorqueFlit eight-speed automatic with a capability of running 27mi per gallon on the highway while running 18mpg through the city. In other news, Motor Trend reported that the 3.6L engine has a tuned induction system and true dual exhaust system that makes 90% of its peak.
Due to the drive system with an active transfer case and front-axle-disconnect, it improved its fuel mileage and dry weather performance. It also has the three-mode Electronic Stability Control which has the Vehicle Dynamic Control which improved its handling in complex terrains.
In normal driving mode, the 2017 Dodge Challenger GT AWD could trigger ESC event due to its low traction, a wide-open throttle, manual shifting through the steering while, shift paddles, and more. It also comes with the Super Track Pak button to access Dodge Performance Pages and launch control.
The test drive brought the 2017 Dodge Challenger GT AWD through three distinct courses. Despite the challenging terrain, the vehicle was able to swerve undisturbed. In fact, the skidpad was able to maintain a good momentum.
