Nissan is gearing up to launch a new Z-car that is reportedly aiming to prove its superiority in the range of powertrains. Spoilers reveal that car enthusiasts may witness the debut of the new generation Z concept at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show and will challenge its German rivals.

The upcoming new Z-car will come out as a superior powertrain with low-slung coupe image. It will not carry the same retro design of the original Z-car but will now have a swank edition of the Nissan's Vmotion 2.0 concept introduced in the recently concluded North American International Auto Show held in Detroit.

The new Z-car will take on a similar FR-L platform found in the Infinity Q60 Red Sport. It is expected to make 400 horsepower at 6,400 rpm and 350 pound-foot of torque at 1,600 rpm with its twin-turbocharged, 3.0-liter V6 engine. It also has a seven-speed automatic transmission to manipulate the rear wheels.

Considering these specs, it appears that Nissan is preparing the new flagship to challenge the German supercars. The new Z-car will most likely compete with its rivals BMW M2 and Porsche 718 Boxster S, Car and Driver reported.

Furthermore, spoilers reveal that Nissan is also working on a hybrid version of the new Z. However, this upgraded concept is still in the working table so it might come out on a later schedule.

Sources told the publication that the hybrid version of the new Z will sport the V6 engine plus an electric motor that will enable the upgraded Z-car to make 500 horsepower. If this is true, then the gasoline-electric version of the upgraded Z-car will be the most powerful model of its kind.

The new Z is speculated to be released sometime in 2019. It is also predicted to carry a $30,000 price tag.
