Spoilers for the anticipated Samsung Galaxy S8 reveal that alleged release date and the upgraded specs of the new device. Sources say the new device will run with Snapdragon 835 and can transform into a PC.
A source told Forbes that the anticipated Samsung Galaxy S8 is set to be released on April 14 in South Korea. The tipster also confirmed that the new handset will run on Snapdragon 835.
The source also revealed that Qualcomm is not releasing this latest Snapdragon 835 to any other brands unless the new Galaxy S8 is launched. Apparently, Samsung has acquired exclusive launch of the latest chipset as the company is also working closely with Qualcomm in developing the processor.
In another report, The Guardian also claims some sources have revealed that Samsung is also preparing to introduce a new line-up of accessories for the upcoming S8. These tools are reportedly essential to convert the new handset to function like an Android PC.
Samsung will introduce a dock for the new S8 which can be connected to a monitor, keyboard and other accessories called DeX (desktop extension). This DeX is similar to Microsoft's Continuum, which links smartphones running with Windows to a desktop extension. Upon connection and with Windows Store applications, the smartphone will then be transformed to function like a regular Windows PC.
Furthermore, the source mentioned that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8 will come out in two sizes, dubbed internally as "Dream" for the smaller variant and "Dream 2" for the bigger one. A bezel-less "infinity" display panels can also be expected in the new handset. In addition, the upcoming S8 will also have the same iris scanner which can be found in the Galaxy Note 7.
The new Galaxy S8 is also coming out with an artificial intelligence assistant. This new feature will enable the new handset to recognize objects through its "duo pixel" camera, which is allegedly similar to Google Goggles. The publication mentioned that it has been previously speculated that the AI assistant of the new Galaxy S8 will have the name "Bixby." However, the recent sources could not confirm the actual name of the AI assistant.
Meanwhile, the sources of The Guardian have specified a different release date for S8. The tipsters mentioned that the new Galaxy S8 is scheduled to be announced in the later part of March. The sources also added that the devices will be made available for sale on or around April 21.
