Jovan Belcher Police Video Released A Week After Murder-Suicide (VIDEO)

The Kansas City Police Department have released a video showing officers spoke with former Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher just hours before he killed Kasandra Perkins and himself on Dec. 1. The story was first reported by the Associated Press.

The KCPD released a video that has now found its way to YouTube showing two officers on their way to a handle a complaint that someone was sleeping in a car outside of their apartment complex. Police then found Belcher and after asking what he was doing there he explained he was waiting for his girlfriend to get home and fell asleep.

"When he was sleeping she may have come home, and he didn't realize," Snapp said reportedly to officers according to the Associated Press. "He was very cooperative and thanked the officers.

Belcher was cooperative throughout the whole process according to police officials. After suggesting he go inside, Belcher made a phone call to someone and within minutes a woman appeared and let Belcher come inside.

"There was no cause for a field test," Young said, via the Kansas City Star. "The responding officers did not smell any alcohol. As you can see, there is no stumbling, there is no slurring. You need pieces in place to give a field sobriety test. You need indications."

This would contradict reports from earlier this past week that said alcohol played a huge part in both killings last weekend. Officers had previously determined Belcher was drinking but there was no reason to cite him if he was able to get inside the building.

The KCPD also posted a video of officers on their way to a police call to the Chiefs practice facility just hours after the first call. It was there that Belcher spoke with GM Scott Pioli and head coach Romeo Crennel, reportedly thanking both for everything they have done for him. As police arrived to the facility, Belcher knelt behind a parked car and reportedly shot himself in head.
