Celebrity Car Auction John Lennon's 1965 Mercedes-Benz 230SL Roadster Off To Auction!

The Beatles legend bought the custom-made Mercedes-Benz 230SL Roadster back in 1965 and owned it for four years, now this car is set to sell in auction for up to £2.4million.

According to Mirror, it is a privilege to own a vintage car which was once driven by a former member of Beatles. Not that recent ago, this was only a dream only a few people could imagine but, now John Lennon’s vintage Mercedes-Benz 230SL Roadster could reach up to £2.4million as it goes to auction. The Imagine star ordered the car to be custom made for him in 1965 which is the same year The Beatles released their hit song “Drive My Car.” This vehicle is especially rare as John Lennon owned a few cars because he disliked driving. This car has been sold by Worldwide Auctioneers and founder and auctioneer John Kruse. John said that John Lennon ordered this car to be specifically made to suit his taste. A lot of people don’t realize but John Lennon wasn’t a car enthusiast which means there aren’t many cars he owned.

According to New Atlas, John Lennon’s vintage car 1965 Mercedes-Benz 230SL Roadster appeared during the filming of the 1972 documentary Imagine, a film which was created to promote Lennon’s LP of the same name and the song which became an anthem of the peace movement. In this film, it is driven by both John Lennon and Yoko Ono. The hearse has already gone to auctions several times. First, it appeared at Julien's in October 2005 when it fetched circa $155.000 and later again at RM-Sothebys in London last September when it failed to sell an estimated price of $200.000 to $300.000. John Lennon’s place in popular culture as an ambassador of peace will never diminish. A few cars that don’t wear a prestige badge like Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz or Porsche can hope to appreciate in value, but this one will.
