GM Sets Annual Sales Record, Second Highest Monthly Demand Ever In November, Buick The Top Seller

General Motors set an annual sales record in China this past November according to a press release issued by company this week. The company reportedly sold 260,018 vehicles in November, and overall the company has sold 2,593,642 vehicles.

Sales in November were the highest ever and second highest sales month in GM's history. In the first 11 months of 2012, sales for GM produced vehicles rose over 10 percent. Shanghai GM's domestic sales grew 8.7 percent for the year according to the press release which equals approximately 1,220,887 vehicles sold in 2012 so far.

November sales increased for Shangahi GM as the company sold 136,444 models last month in China. Demand for new products increased over 20 percent according to the press release.

"Buick once again led the way for Shanghai GM, as sales increased 17.4 percent year on year to a November record 70,172 units," said General Motors in their press release. "Demand for the original Excelle family totaled 23,381 units."

The Excelle XT and GT sold 17,716 vehicles in November, which is an increase of over 16 percent compared to last November. This is the second highest sales month for Excelle vehicles in China.

Regal models actually set a monthly record after selling 9,204 units last month, an overall increase of 12 percent. Chevrolet and Cadillac also set monthly sales records in China, selling over 63,012 and 3,260 vehicles respectively. The increase in Chevy sales increased largely due to Sail models that sold 22, 394 models.

"Wuling sales in China dropped 0.5 percent year on year to 108,304 units in November. It continued to be led by the Sunshine, which had sales of 40,420 units," said GM in a press release. "Baojun's November sales jumped 70.0 percent on an annual basis to 10,232 units, the brand's second-highest monthly total ever. Its most popular model was the 630, which had sales of 6,429 units - an increase of 6.8 percent from last November."
