The Tech of the Year automobile competition is just around the corner and reports already forecasted the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class model to be the best bet to land the title. With better proportions, bigger capacity, and tech-savvy interior features will it reign supreme?
The Tech Specs. Firstly, the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-class model has humungous 12.3in TFT screens which are an eye-catcher interior feature. It has also been installed with one of the most technologically advanced semi-autonomous functionality called the Driver Pilot, reported Auto Blog. This enables the vehicle to safely maneuver itself from a car up front for 130mi per hour. It could likewise stay within the same lane while it follows through even in the midst of busy traffic. Furthermore, it has several subsystems that enabled it to drive farther distances by its own.
The vehicle also has sensors installed in the front bumper which was designed to predict the distance of the car from the vehicle in front of it and informs the driver when someone would cut them off while on driving mode. With respect to brake functionality, the Distance Pilot Distronic automatically halts the car when the power reaches 50% of its maximum power. The system itself would interrupt driving mode when the visual and acoustic warnings suggest sufficient braking input.
Other Models' Updates. In other news, Car Scoops reported that on top of the E-class model, the 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS models would retain its design inspiration under the CLS banner instead of the former. Although the updated model would be based on the current W213 E-Class platform of the brand, it would be longer and wider than the inspiration car which would generate better high-end power units.
The 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class model has been pegged to be the best bet to win the Tech of the Year award. With impressive features under its platform which would be installed in the 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS models, will it reign supreme as the most tech-savvy vehicle of its market segment?
