Just a few days after the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLA facelift was unveiled at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show, new images of a new prototype model surfaced online. This is hinting to the new generation GLA crossover.

People are not surprised considering how aggressive Mercedes-Benz is for bringing in newer and better models since the past couple of years, Auto NDTV reported. The car was spotted in a heavy camouflage which tells that this will be a prototype and there will be a long way before the production version will be ready to show it to the world. It is hard to tell from these images, but it looks like this model will be bigger in dimensions.

This car appears to be longer than the outgoing model but the test vehicle seems to have slightly wider tracks. It is too soon to comment on the car’s styling and features but people are hoping that the second generation Mercedes-Benz GLA will be a bit more different than the A-Class hatchback. Both models will share the same Modular Front-Wheel-Drive Architecture (MFA). It is believed that the second generation GLA will lose some weight thanks to the more extensive use of lightweight materials.

According to Express, the German car giants revealed that the GLA has been given a facelift and upgrade specs for 2017. The prices for the new range start at £25,880 for the GLA 200 SE and the buyers can choose from three petrol engines: GLA 200, GLA 250 4MATIC and Mercedes-AMG GLA 45 4MATIC. The 2.1-litre diesel engine is featuring on both the GLA 200d 4MATIC and GLA 220 d 4MATIC which are capable of producing 136bhp and 177bhp. The average fuel economy for the 200 d comes in around 67.2mpg while CO2 emission can be as low as 108 g/km. The three trim options available on the GLA range are Se, Sport and AMG Line.
