Apple iMac Launch Day: New 21-inch PC Now Available In Stores, 27-inch Model Coming In December (VIDEO)

On Oct. 23, Apple unveiled their newest line of iMac computers to the world at a press conference in California and since then the devices have received an overall positive response from tech experts and critics alike. But between the release of the iPhone 5 just weeks before hand and the unveiling of other products like the iPad Mini, the company hasn't done a whole lot of advertising for the new desktop devices.

It wasn't until earlier this week that the company formally announced the 21.5-inch device would be released officially on Nov. 30. Since its release however, devices have been selling at an alarming rate at Apple stores around the U.S. and respectively on the Apple Online Store as well.

"Redesigned from the inside out, the new iMac packs high performance technology into an aluminum and glass enclosure that measures just 5 mm thin at its edge and features a reengineered display that reduces reflection by 75 percent," Apple stated in a company press release when first announcing the iMac.

The 21.5-inch base model device will be available with a2.7 GHz quad-core with Turbo Boost speeds that can reach up to 32.GHz. This version will be available for $1,299 according to Apple. The company has also released a 2.9 GH quad-core version for $1,499 which can reach speeds up to 3.6 GHz.

The device also comes with 8GB of 1600 MHz memory, a 1TB hard drive, and third generation quad-core Intel Core i5 processors that can be upgraded to Core i7 according to the Apple website. The company also advertises the device as the smallest desktop computer they have ever produces with weight of just 8 pounds and a five millimeter edge. The device is "80 percent smaller" than the last model which was released almost two years ago.

The latest NVIDIA GeForce graphics processors can also deliver up to 60 percent faster performance. Customers should get excited for the new Fusion Drive feature, which is an innovative new storage option that gives customers the performance of flash and the capacity of a hard drive. This is accomplished by combining 128GB of flash with a normal hard drive to produce a single storage volume that will accurately manage files to optimize different performances and features the company states.

"It is absolutely beautiful," said Apple's Phil Schiller during a press event in San Jose, CA. "It is stunning from every side."

The company also announced that a 27-inch model will be in stores and sold online as well, due out just in time for the holidays next month. You can preorder the device already for $1,799, but it won't ship out for two to three weeks.
