Mercedes is working on its C-Class to provide updates. The idea is to freshen things as the Mercedes-Benz C-Class arrives at the midway point in its life cycle.

Some prototypes have been spotted and showed that there will be minor tweaks done to the exterior design of the sedan. New bumpers and changes made to the internals of the lights may be expected. Headlights which more closely resembled the models on the latest E-Class had one of the earlier prototypes.

The inside is what's exciting. There's a new touchpad controller in the center console for the updated infotainment system which replaces the rotary dial which is found in most Mercedes-Benz units. The steering wheel's design is also new which features a number of controls, according to Motor Authority.

Although we have seen a C-Class featuring a digital instrument cluster from the E-Class and S-Class models, an analog instrument cluster remains. It is possible, however, that the instrument cluster in the updated Mercedes-Benz C-Class will be making the digital switch, or, it could be offered as an option like Audi, which has its own digital instrument cluster for the entry-level models.

As for its powertrain, the updated C-Class would likely adopt the next-generation engines of Mercedes. The said new engines feature a modular design, with the 6-cylinder units moving to an inline design rather than the current V-6 design used by Mercedes. The new engines debuted in the 2018 S-Class and showcased numerous efficiency improvements which include a single electric motor to replace the starter motor and alternator together with a performance boost.

The automaker would likely introduce the facelifted Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan in the second half of this year, with its wagon to follow several months later, and then the coupe and convertible in the latter half of 2018, according to motor1.
