2013 Ram 1500 Awarded ‘Urban Truck Of The Year’ By Decisive Magazine, Will Be Honored This January

Decisive Magazine named the 2013 Ram 1500 pickup truck the "Urban Truck of the Year" in its 2013 Urban Vehicles of the Year list. The news was released in a press release by the company today. The company won't receive the award officially until January.

"We are extremely pleased that the automotive industry continues to recognize the efforts of Ram Truck brand, and honored to receive Decisive Magazine's 2013 Urban Truck of the Year award for the new Ram 1500," said Fred Diaz, President and CEO-Ram Truck Brand and Chrysler de Mexico in the company's press release. "We've worked passionately to build durable, capable trucks with best-in-class fuel economy. Winning awards in such a fiercely competitive market resonates with our customers."

Awards were determined by a panel of judges consisting of some of the most respectable and notable automobile writers around the nation. Judges were asked months in advanced to start determining their choices for new vehicles released and had to evaluate dozens of different new vehicles in the car and truck categories according to the Decisive Magazine website.

The 2013 truck was first revealed at the New York Auto Show in April and has been well received by critics and fans alike since. The vehicle features a new 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine with over 42 percent more horsepower and 13 percent more torque compared to the previous model.

The vehicle also comes with an Uconnect Access wireless platform infotainment system. The new system can control a number of different media devices like a customer's music, phone contact's and can find directions without having to plug in directions according to the company press release.

Customers can expect to pay a base price of around $23,585 for the vehicle.

"The Ram 1500 is as quiet as a luxury car and yet, is also extraordinarily capable as a truck," said Diaz in the press release. "Rugged and yet smooth enough for a night on the town, the Ram 1500 really raises the bar on what a pickup truck should be," said Randi Payton, founder of the Annual Urban Wheel Awards.

The Urban Vehicles of the Year will be honored at the Urban Wheel Awards during the North American International Auto Show, on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013. The event will take place at the MotorCity Casino Hotel's Sound Board Theater in Detroit, MI.
