Arianna Huffington's Goodnight Smartphone

The popular children’s book Goodnight Moon just got a mature makeover. Arianna Huffington, the author of Thrive and The Sleep Revolution has created a modern retelling of the bedtime favorite for the digital age called Goodnight Smartphone where she is narrating the story.

According to People, Arianna Huffington was inspired to write it after she visited Audible earlier this year to speak about the benefits of sleep. Arianna joked that she wished there could be a version of the story for adults who have troubles putting away their smartphones at night. She thinks that adults are having trouble saying goodnight to their phones, emails and social media because they are digital slaves. Goodnight Moon and its message are when people say goodnight to the things that occupy them during the day. This is a particularly powerful message for adults in the digital age. Arianna Huffington enjoyed reworking the classic story for a modern audience and she hopes her listener will take the meaning to heart and put away their tweets, e-mails, and stresses of the day at the bedtime.

Even though the original story is for children, Arianna Huffington’s Goodnight Smartphone is way too intense for kids, The Verge reported. This classic children’s book, Goodnight Moon contains its unsettling phrase ‘goodnight air’, it has nothing on the recent released Arianna Huffington’s audio book Goodnight Smartphone, a horror story for modern times. Arianna Huffington’s book says that people who have a sleep ritual that involves baths and separate bedrooms for their electronic devices are sleep deprivation braggers with sleep macho swagger and a lack of common sense. This Goodnight Smartphone contains many statements therein that are too heavy for a children’s book or even adult’s book. Arianne Huffington is asking people to close down the day so they can open themselves up to the possibilities of the night.
