2017 Jeep Cherokee Review: Comfortable for On and Off-Road Fun

The Cherokee is reliable and comfortable to drive. It has good features and fantastic off-road capabilities. It remains to be one of America's best-selling automobiles.

Pros and Features. The 2017 Jeep Cherokee is a five-seater crossover SUV that has a V6 engine option available. This allows for an assertive but smooth ride. It also has an absorbent suspension which smoothens out any rough driving surfaces.

The SUV is also equipped with a capable and user-friendly 8.4-inch touchscreen on many models which is very generous. Additionally, Trailhawk offers a unique off-road capability for a small crossover.

Cons. The Cherokee has very sluggish acceleration with its four-cylinder engine. It also has a small cargo capacity when compared to other small crossovers.

What's New? The 2017 Cherokee now has small minor equipment revisions. These include standard xenon headlights on every model except for the base Sport. The Overland model will now be introduced for a full year model.

Models. The 2017 Jeep Cherokee comes in five different models: Sport, Latitude, Trailhawk, Limited, and Overland. The Standard Sport features 17-inch steel wheels, LED running lights, remote keyless entry, and LED taillights. It also has other tech features.

The Latitude model has alloy wheels, fog lights, automatic xenon headlights, and roof rails. It also has a rearview camera, LED interior lighting, and other comfort and tech features.

The Trailhawk if the off-road model. It comes with an advanced four-wheel-drive system called Active Drive II. It also has wider wheels and all-terrain tires, perfect for off-road adventuring. It also has more ground clearance and better off-road suspension.

The Limited model loses most of the off-road options but adds other comfort features. The Limited has leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, and an eight-way power driver sear with lumbar support, among other features.

The top-of-the-line Overland comes with a great sound system with subwoofer and a navigation system. It also has other upgraded tech and comfort features from the Limited model.

Pricing. The Sport model starts at $26,400 while the Latitude has an MSRP of $28,510. The Limited model starts at $35,880 while the Trailhawk has an MSRP of $37,250. The range-topping Overland is priced at $42,990.

Verdict. The 2017 Jeep Cherokee has a great interior and exterior. It has generous space inside and impressive safety and tech features. It is a remarkable car for both on and off-road driving.
