From its huge debut last January 12th, Nintendo Switch proves to be the most anticipated gaming console of the year. After Nintendo announcing Switch to be available for pre-order, retailers such as Gamestop has been sold out. Numerous allegations have therefore surfaced the internet stating Nintendo failed to anticipate product demand, again.
In an interview with Gamestop last week, Reggi Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America President admits that they failed to anticipate the product demand. This controversy can be recalled similar to the Mini NES Classic in which the company has failed to anticipate as well.
Now that Gamestop has confirmed Nintendo Switch stock shortage, it worries a lot of Switch fans. Gamestop confirms that the company is working on the issue, and promises to provide more units in the future. There is no reported figure of how many units Gamestop has pre-ordered.
Other retailers such as Amazon, Target, Toys R Us, Walmart, and Best Buy is confirmed to be unavailable for pre-orders. Meanwhile, eBay has numerous available pre-order listing, but in an incredibly higher price.
In other news, Nintendo Switch is found to have an airplane symbol which signifies airplane mode similar to mobile gadgets. There are speculations stating that Nintendo Switch might run in mobile connectivity as well. According to a report by Nintendo Life, the airplane mode denotes that all connectivity such as Bluetooth, NFC, and WIFI are switched off.
Having a mobile connectivity means playing online games outside the house. It will be an amazing feature if Switch integrates that function. There is still no official announcement from Nintendo regarding this matter. But, fans suggest that this alleged airplane mode functionality is very similar to the "wireless turned off" function in 3DS.
