It seems that Apple is preparing to come out stronger with the highly anticipated iPhone 8 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the iPhone series. The next iPhone is expected to be tougher with its metal forging system and will sport the highest level of water proofing.
Reports are now circulating that the anticipated iPhone 8 will sport the best levels of water and dust resistance. The new phone is speculated to have the IP68 rating, which is the highest level of protection against liquid. This rating can protect the smartphone even when submerged in 1.5 meters of water for a long duration of 30 minutes.
The predecessor iPhone 7 has the IP67 rating, which is able to withstand being soaked in 1 meter of water for half an hour. The upcoming iPhone 8 is speculated to have an improved water proofing system by having the IP68 rating. Rumors say that a source told that the Cupertino company will have the drastic upgrade of featuring the IP68 rating protection in the upcoming iPhone 8 to mark the 10th anniversary of the iPhone series, 9to5Mac has noted.
Furthermore, multiple reports are now confirming the stainless steel body for the phone. Apple has decided to let go of its top manufacturer Foxconn and has switched to Jabil as a supplier of the forged stainless steel chassis for iPhone. This stainless steel chassis will be used for the outer and inner layers to cover the front and rear glass panels, Forbes has learned via DigiTimes.
The publication also noted that switching from billet milling to metal forging method will result to a better quality of the iPhone body as the metal is definitely stronger. In addition, the front and back glass casing will enable Apple to produce a thinner and slimmer core body without sacrificing structural integrity.
