2017 Bathurst 12 Hour Race Drivers Announced, Walkinshaw Porsche Lineup Finalized

Next month marks the 2017 Bathurst 12 Hour race and the three official drivers for Walkinshaw Porsche 911 GT3 R had been announced. The Pro-Pro line-up will join Laurens Vanthoor as the complete AM Class drivers.

The Porsche Team. It was just recently that Laurens Vanthoor confirmed his participation as one of the Porsche 911 GT3 R drivers for the upcoming 2017 Bathurst 12 Hour race this coming February. Per Walkinshaw GT3 managing director, Adrian Burgess, the driver line-up was completed when drivers John Martin, Duvashen Padayachee, and Liam Talbot confirmed their participation.

As reported by Motor Sport, both Martin and Padayachee has had experience driving a Porsche. In fact, they campaigned with Walkinshaw 911 during the Australian GT last racing season. For the other driver, Talbot, he had once been the Am Class Blancpain Endurance champion which led Burgess to claim that the team has higher hopes of winning the racing season this year.

In fact, Burgess added that the line-up is the perfect way to start the Australian racing season for their drivers has had a taste of victory and had been renowned for their impressive performance in such. He said Talbot would bring endurance racing knowledge and skills to his team that would generate higher expectations and outcomes for Porsche in the 2017 Bathurst 12 Hour race.

Other Members Of Competing Teams. In other news, Speed Café reported that the Ford #94 roster will retain Leanne Tander as their driver along with Nick Rowe, Tim Leahey, and Gerard McLeod for the 2018 Bathurst 12 Hour race. Drivers for the Toyota 86 Series were announced to include Will Brown, Keith Kassulke, and Rod Salmon. On the other hand, MARC Cars team would be composed of drivers Jake Camilleri, Rob Thompson, and Jack Smith while the third generation charger Aaron Seton would be racing alongside Michael Benton, Jason Busk, Hadrian Morall, and Bryce Fullwood for the #95 car.

The 2017 Bathurst 12 Hour race will begin by Feb. 3, 2017, until Feb. 5, 2017. Does the Walkinshaw Porsche lineup show greater potential to win the race compared to other teams?
