The Automotive Company Ford has recently added over 816,000 counts of vehicles to the increasing number of Takata air bag inflator recall in North America. The latest recall has around covered over 5.7 million vehicles that involve 17 automakers in U.S.

According to Ford's latest callback, it covers 2005 to 2009 and 2012 model Mustang, 2006 to 2009 and 2012 Ford Fusion, Lincoln MKZ, and Lincoln Zephyr. The recall also included the 2007 to 2009 Ford Ranger and Edge, 2006 to 2009 Mercury Milan, 2007 to 2009 Lincoln MKX, and the 2005 to 2006 Ford GT. Ford has said that there were no any injuries that have been reported with this batch of vehicles.

Car models mentioned above has front passenger airbag inflators from Takata which had become a big concern. The Air bag's inflator is a cartridge made from metal loaded with propellant wafers that made some cases ignited with an explosive impact. There is a potential of a catastrophic outcome from a supposed life-saving airbag if the inflator's housing ruptures in a crash as metal shreds from the device is spattered in the passenger's shack.

It was determined that the root cause of the complication is the use of the ammonium nitrate-based propellant without any drying chemical agent. As it was assumed, the environmental moisture along with high temperature is associated with the defect as it doesn't inflate the airbags properly and can even directly spewed metal shrapnel into the occupant. 

To date, there are over 16 reported people that have died around the world from the said problem and have more than 180 counts of people that have been injured. Automotive Parts Company based in Japan Takata is considered to have the largest and most complex safety recall in the history of the United States of America. It covers over 69 million inflators and 42 million vehicles in the in U.S
