Chevrolet Spark Mini Car Review: Minimal Maintenance For A Decent Price, EV To Be Revealed At Los Angeles Auto Show (PHOTOS)

Chevrolet is urging people not to avoid the new 2013 Chevrolet Spark mini car because you're tight on money.

The car is already being advertised as one that "comes with regularly scheduled maintenance" to save those who purchase the car money and time compared to the previous model. With a base price of just $12,995 it seems the company knows what they are talking about.

Expect the new mini car will be released in early 2013.

"The Spark will appeal to young urban buyers who are always on the go," said Jim Federico, executive chief engineer, General Motors Small Cars in the company's press release. "The Spark is perfect for these urban lifestyles because it is not only easy and fun to drive but also easy to own."

The vehicle will be able to reach 100,000 miles driven before owners will have to replace spark plugs on the vehicle. That number is almost 70,000 more than the Fiat 500, one of the company's biggest competitors. The car also cost's almost $3,100 less than the Scion iQ, one of the other Spark competitor according to the press release.

Overall customers of the vehicle will save money and time on aspects like power steering fluid that lasts the entire life of the vehicle and an engine timing chain that requires no maintenance. The car also won't need transmission fluid either.

The Spark, which was first released in 2009, is the only car of its kind offered currently with five doors and a seven-inch touch screen infotainment system. Over 600,000 units have sold world-wide and it has become more popular as time has gone on.

The company will also be showcasing the all new plug-in electric version of the car at the Los Angeles Auto Show at the end of this month. This will be one of 13 new or slightly changed vehicles that will be released in 2013 according to the company's press release.

"Chevrolet continues to build on the momentum of eight consecutive quarters of record global sales with the introduction of more new products, features and technologies that are designed to offer consumers exceptional functionality, comfort and convenience," said, Chris Perry, vice president of Global Chevrolet Marketing in the press release.

The Spark EV will be joined by other new Chevrolet vehicles like the new Malibu Turbo sedan, the Camaro Hot Wheels Edition, the Sonic RS, and the Impala at the LA Auto Show.
