Last Monday, Detroit Auto Show winners were announced on the Cobo Center Atrium Stage during the 23rd NACTOY annual awards. It is considered as one of the prestigious awarding in the auto industry.

There was a total of 43 nominees during the show but there were only three winners. The Chevrolet Bolt EV, Chrysler Pacifica, and Honda Ridgeline were the ones who made it into the top 3.

The first electric vehicle that travels more than 200 miles and under $40,000 Chevy Bolt was awarded as the car of the year from the group of nominees that includes Volvo S90 and Genesis G90. It dominated during the awards and was also named as car and driver's top ten lists.

Chevy's Bolt has a 60 kWh battery which is the same as Tesla's Model S that was located on the vehicle's floor. The car model has obtained an interior room as well as a center of low-level gravity. For a compact car, Bolt was roomy but still had agile corners. While the Chief Engineer of Bolt EV was accepting the award, he stated that the company is setting out to make, not only a great electric vehicle but a great car.

As for the North American Utility Vehicle of the Year, Chrysler Pacifica was the chosen one for the award. Pacifica has debuted their first hybrid electric minivan with a range of 30 miles on battery alone. They also reinvented the minivan's functional features and the sleek. According to Tim Kuniskis, Chrysler's head, Pacifica is the perfect family car.

 North American Truck of the Year was awarded to Honda Ridgeline. It is a unique truck for a mid-size class with the chassis structure that gives the Ridgeline the best class road manners.

The NACTOY's three winners in the different category were tested and analyzed by 60 auto journalists. Aside from its independence, NACTOY is the only auto award that consists of journalists from an extensive range of outlets.
