Samsung Galaxy S 3 Beats iPhone 4S For World’s Best-Selling Smart Phone, Tops Apple For The First Time Ever, Can It Compete vs. iPhone 5? (VIDEO)

For the first time ever, the Samsung Galaxy S3 beat an Apple product during the months of July through September making it the highest selling smartphone in the world according to Strategy Analytics. The Galaxy S3 beat out Apple's iPhone 4S overall during the third quarter of 2012.

The Galaxy S3 sold a total of 18 million phones worldwide during those months, which accounted for 11 percent of overall smartphone sales worldwide. Likewise, the iPhone 4S sold 16.3 smartphones for the third quarter.

Samsung has done a great deal to try persuading people to chose another option over the highly publicized iPhone 4, including making multiple commercials to show direct comparisons were the iPhone 4S and even the iPhone 5 don't measure up.

The Android phone has a 1.5 GHz dual core processor and is designed for those who wish to run more than one app at a time. The phone comes with a 4.8 inch HD display system and with an 8 megapixel camera the phone takes better pictures than any previous Galaxy model and has an estimated battery life of around 12 hours according to Samsung.

The phone also features a unique device called the S Beam with shares pictures, music, and videos between two Galaxy phones. To access the S Beam you simply place both phones back to back and click the "Touch" button to share with someone.

Apple has to be disappointed with the overall results during the third quarter, but it is unlikely to lose the battle next time thanks to the introduction of the iPhone 5.

The iPhone 5 is now Samsung's closest competitor with a 4 inch screen, A6 processor and completely rebuilt design compared to the iPhone 4S. The company has advertised its Siri app consistently before and since releasing the phone as a voice assistant to help customers with many things like directions, finding a local business or any random question that comes to mind according to Apple.

The average price for the 16GB iPhone 5 is currently at $199 and the price for the 32GB is $299. Some of its main specs include Wi-Fi capability, digital compass, and Bluetooth technology.

The iPhone 5 sold 5 million phones in the first weekend it was released alone and with the holiday season coming up it is expected to do even better for the months of November and December. Experts currently predict the phone to sell somewhere between 44 to 47 million units next quarter.
