Find Out Why The 2018 Honda Odyssey Is One Technologically-Advanced Family Car

The Honda Odyssey has been updated and redesigned for the digital age. The 2018 Honda Odyssey will feature family-oriented technology when it launches in the Spring of 2017.

The 2018 Honda Odyssey. The fifth generation Honda Odyssey was unveiled on Monday at the Detroit Auto Show. It is due to be offered in dealerships by end of the first quarter.

As a family car, the 2018 Honda Odyssey's slightly updated design and powertrain won't matter that much. Its technological features are what will most likely excite a parent.

The new Odyssey will feature CabinWatch, a system that uses a camera to allow passengers on the front seats to monitor activity in the back through an eight-inch high-resolution touchscreen display on the dashboard. There is also CabinTalk which allows a driver to boom their voice through speakers and headphones.

A rear entertainment system will be available and will house a 10.2-inch screen. It can stream PBS Kids and Spotify among others via a Wi-Fi system, public internet, and even a mobile service provider.

The 2018 Odyssey is loaded with apps. Once such app is the "How Much Further App" which shows a road trip's progress. Other apps control the entertainment and climate systems, can connect your phone to the vehicle's navigation system, and create personalized music playlists.

The previous model of the Odyssey had a "Magic Seat" which was basically a fold-down seat. The 2018 Odyssey has a "Magic Slide" which involves the middle seat on the second row to come out and allow the two remaining ones to slide from side to side for easy access to the back or to give more legroom to the second row.

The new Odyssey will run on a 3.5 liter V6 engine that gives as much as 280 horsepower. It is expected to provide a smoother, more comfortable, and a more interactive family drive.
