Chevrolet will introduce their next generation Traverse crossover at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show. Chevrolet is preparing to unveil their new three-row crossover segment with the all-new 2018 Traverse designed with a sharper style, offering the best class passenger volume and cargo space.
The new second-generation model will take on against the Ford Explorer, Honda Pilot, Toyota Highlander and Nissan Pathfinder. The vehicle will also make its world debut at the Detroit Auto Show.
The company is planning to make the Traverse the modern Family Truckster. The vehicle is equipped with USB charging ports in all three rows, has a 4G LTE wireless internet and middle row seats that can be flip forward to access its third row. The automakers also installed Apple's CarPlay and Android Auto technology that is located on the standard 7-inch infotainment touch screen.
The Traverse style was inspired from Chevy's full-size SUVs. Customers are given a lot of visual choices, with a new trim levels added and a sporty blacked-out RS model which includes a black chrome grille, large 20-inch wheels, and black bow tie badges.
Traverse powertrain is simple but powerful. Equipped with a new 3.6-liter V6 with an estimated 305 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque that is connected to a nine-speed automatic and can tow an estimated 5,000 pounds. When it comes to the front-wheel drive models, they are anticipated to return 18mpg in the city and 25 miles per gallon on the highway.
Furthermore, both engines give power to the front wheels or the all-wheel drive system by the GM's nine-speed transmission. Both engines are also automatic start/stop, which is undefeated.
For the Traverse suspension, it comes with a five-link suspension that controls the tire movement in the rear. The car's steering is run by a variable-effort electric power steering rack.
Chevrolet has installed an advanced safety tech to the car such as surround vision cameras, LED headlights, automatic braking and forward collision alerts and lane keeps assist. No details yet have been released on how much it will cost. But the new 2018 Chevrolet Traverse is set to go on sale this fall.
