The Samsung Galaxy S7 was released a few months ago but it looks like the S8 will soon be here. According to some recent Samsung Galaxy S8 leaks, it boasts excellent features, upgraded high-performing specs, and an all-new sleek finish. A release date has also been announced as well as speculation as to the price. But is it worth the upgrade so soon?
Software and Hardware Specs. The Samsung Galaxy S8 will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. It will also have an Exynos 8895 chip coupled with 6GB or 8GB of RAM. It will have an onboard internal storage of 64GB and 128GB according to BGR.
Galaxy S7's hardware is evidently lower. It only has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and an Exynos 8890 chip coupled with the only 4GB of RAM. It has internal storage options of 32GB and 64GB of expandable thru microSD.
Galaxy S7 has not received its Android Nougat update yet, despite being a flagship Android model. Meanwhile, Galaxy S8 is expected to run Android's latest beta program out of the box. Additionally, the Galaxy S8 is rumored to feature the digital assistant Viv and TouchWiz, an overlay software of Samsung.
Design. Samsung is expected to be doing away with its headphone jack and physical home button with Galaxy S8. In addition, a USB-Type C is said to replace the traditional ports of the phone. It will also have enhanced audio features as well as a fingerprint sensor to be added where the physical home button was previously located.
Display. Based on the leaks and rumors, the Samsung Galaxy S8 will have a bigger screen display. It will be 5.7 inches while the Galaxy S7's display is only at 5.1 inches. However, Samsung is reported going to stick with Super AMOLED technology with a big bump of resolution from 2K with S7 to 4k to accommodate VR capability.
Samsung Galaxy S8 Release Date. Previous reports claimed that the latest flagship smartphone would be revealed during the Mobile World Congress in February. However, according to Forbes, the Galaxy S8 might come to the market later because new reports have revealed that the South Korean company will unveil the phone in March of this year. The physical phone models will be available on the store shelves by April 18.
Price. There has been no mention of how much the price will be. Considering that it is a flagship Samsung phone and there are more features on the phone, there have been reports going around that it will be considerably more expensive than the S7 during its launch. Additionally, it is expected that the S8 will have 15 to 20 percent more sales during its release than its predecessor.
