Plaxico Burress Beats 125 MPH Speeding Ticket On Technicality, Was Driving 70 Miles Over Speed Limit (VIDEO)

Unemployed former NFL star Plaxico Burress was able to get out of a hefty speeding ticket on Tuesday by proving the police officer who pulled him over wrote down the wrong law on the ticket.

The former Giants wide receiver was cited for going 125 mph in his 2012 Ferrari in Broward County, FL according to TMZ before being pulled over.

Burress was driving 70 mph over the speed limit which caused the police cruiser to pull Burress over and give him a ticket. In most cases driving over 100 mph will either land you a big fine or possibly some jail time, but Burress was able to avoid both.

His lawyer Bradord Cohen proved to a judge on Tuesday that the police officer wrote the wrong law down on Burress's copy of the ticket. Despite the officer correcting the mistake on his own copy of the ticket, the judge ruled that the case had to be thrown out on a technicality thus allowing Burress to escape with no punishment.

Burress is also famous for bringing a gun to a nightclub in 2008 where he accidentally shot himself in the thigh. He received a two year prison term for the occurrence and served 20 months in jail. Overall the ruling kept him out of the NFL for two years until he signed with the New York Jets in 2011.

Less than a year earlier Burress was deemed a New York hero when he caught the game winning touchdown for the New York Giants in Super Bowl XLII against the New England Patriots. The touchdown gave the Giants only their third Lombardi Trophy ever before winning it again this past February.

The Jets chose not to bring Burress back for another season however due to a lackluster season, which has left the former star receiver without a job for the time being.
