Earlier this week, images of the much-awaited Samsung Galaxy S8 was leaked - briefly - on the website Weibo. Excitement levels for the S8's release grew bigger.

2016 has been a disastrous year for the multinational conglomerate company. With numerous reports of Samsung Note 7 exploding, the company lost credibility and a lot of buyers. Samsung is looking to take back glory and start building towards a better future with the Galaxy S8. The image below is the only leaked image on Weibo.

In the images, fans can see the design which clearly fits in with the existing Galaxy S7 Edge and its other predecessors. According to Forbes, the model will have a slimmer top and bottom bezels. There will also be no home button.

For those who are wondering where the fingerprint sensor will be located, it's built right into the glass screen. Sources also say that the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Edge will boast a 5.7-inch and 6.2-inch display respectively. The controversial phone model will be released on April 18th this year - a month later than usual.

On other related news, several reports suggest Samsung aims to sell around 60 million units of the upcoming Galaxy S8 this year. 60 million units might seem like an extremely ambitious target, but Samsung has surpassed that number with their Galaxy S4 back in 2013.

Galaxy S3 also sold 65 million units back in 2012. However, the past three generations of Galaxy S smartphones (Galaxy S5, S6, S7) only sold between 45 to 48 million units.

According to reports, Samsung set a higher goal this year to help with overcoming the losses which were sustained by the Galaxy Note 7's faults. The company will start mass-production of the Galaxy S8 by March and will have 5 million units delivered each following month.
