Audi Takes A Page From Disney’s Playbook For Latest Commercial

Audi has taken the help of its latest ad to send in a strong message. The commercial comes from Audi Spain and is titled "The Doll That Chose to Drive." In the advertisement, we can see a Barbie-like figurine climbing into the driver's seat of an Audi R8. The advertisement boasts of a highly detailed animation and it closely resembles or seemingly mimics a Disney or Pixar movie.

The ad has created ripples as Audi choses the commercial wisely and also establishes its motive of breaking down gender stereotyping. When the ad is closely observed, there are hints that are strewn all over it and throughout the video aiming to end gender stereotypes. It also uses the play on contrasting pink and blue elements, reported Autoguide.

Especially in the auto segment, there is lot of gender stereotypes at play. Often the women drivers are offered "safer" cars to ride and it does not boast of power. The more "muscular" machines are made for the men. Women are not considered "macho" enough to pull off a "beast" on to the road. The ad aims at minimalizing all these differences and bring to the fore the fact that women can be fantastic car owners too.

The ad was made for Christmas season and broadcast on TV, in theaters, on YouTube and across social media. After the ad was circulated, it generated a whooping one million views in just three days. As part of the campaign, limited edition versions of the Audi R8 and doll were also given away at no cost, reported Gencoupe.

So, in the process of establishing support to women drivers, Audi also made few customers happy with free cars. And the dolls, of course. So, this page that Audi has taken from the Disney, in the form of its latest commercial, not only entertains but also educates the viewers.
