Mercedes-AMG CLA45 And GLA45 Set To Make More Than 400-Horsepower Engines

At present, the Mercedes-AMG CLA45 and GLA45 make an astounding 375 horsepower from the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engines. This is incredible indeed and it also might seem that the engines are being pushed to their limits already with their 187.5-horsepower/liter output. And it is even true. As a work around, AMG is working on a brand-new engine for the next-generation of these cars.

The head of Mercedes-AMG, Tobias Moers, stated that an all-new engine is in the works for the next-generation CLA45 and GLA45. The specifications for the engine are not yet finalized. However, it is confirmed that it will make more than 400 horsepower, reported MSN.

"We've started working on the next generation, and it's a blank piece of paper for my engineers," Moers told. It is also reported that AMG is abandoning the current four-cylinder. This is because an increase in power with the current engine makes heat management difficult. With the use of a new, more-powerful engine, it will leave space for an offering to slot between the CLA/GLA250 and the "45" cars, not unlike the AMG C43, reported Road and Track.

The objective of AMG CLA45 is also to contend with the upcoming Audi RS3 sedan, which has a 400-hp five-cylinder. The German horsepower wars just intensify as the famous automakers are competing to deliver the best.

What seemed unimaginable seems quite possible and the automakers are investing in research and technology to make newer engines to meet the growing demands of the fast paced car owners. In the tug of war, the person who benefits the most is the customer who will get the very best out of this competition. The customers can now wait for the Mercedes-AMG CLA45 and GLA45 to enter into the next level and create the engine which can accelerate the vehicle and make more than 400 Horsepower.
