Both the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt and the 2016 Tesla Model S 60 are the only two electric cars on the market that boast of a 200-mile range on a single charge. This brings to question of which of the two is actually better than the other.

The 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV vs. the 2016 Tesla Model S 60. Aside from the similarity between both vehicles' 200-mile range on one charge, they both have 60 kWh battery packs. In addition, the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt and the 2016 Tesla Model S 60 are both produced in the US.

The Tesla car to compare the Bolt to is really Tesla's upcoming Tesla Model 3, which is expected to go on sale in later part of 2017. The Tesla Model 3 is expected to retail close to the Bolt's price and has the promise of at least 215 miles on a charge, 15 miles higher than the Bolt. Since the Tesla Model 3 isn't available yet, The Tesla Model S 60 will have to do.

Despite differences between the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt and the Tesla Model S 60 in terms of price and size, their specs reveal quite a big similarity between the two. The Bolt, which is a hatchback, retails at US$41,780 while the Tesla Model S is a sedan and retails at US$71,200.

The Bolt and Tesla Model S 60 have lithium-ion battery packs. Although the Tesla Model S 60 has a 60 kWh battery pack just like the Bolt, it is actually a 75 kWh battery pack limited to a 60 kWh charge. You can, however, update the Tesla Model S 60 over the air to get it up to 75 kWh with a 234-mile range.

The Tesla Model S 60 has a single rear-mounted AC-induction motor with a one-speed automatic with a motor that can generate up to 382 horsepower. The Bolt, on the other hand, is a front-wheel drive with a one-speed automatic just like the Tesla Model S 60 with a 200-horsepower motor.

The Bolt can go up from 0 to 60 mph in 6.3 seconds. The Tesla Model S 60 can go even faster from 0 to 60 mph in just a fewer seconds.

The Tesla Model S 60 doesn't compare to the Bolt in terms of price as it is a few thousand dollars more expensive that the latter. However, the Bolt doesn't fall too far behind with what it can offer. The 2017 Chevrolet Bolt's features combined with its price are enough to help buyers decide which one of the two they would like to get.
