Google Inc revealed a larger version of the Nexus tablet with Android 4.2 on Monday in an effort to compete directly with Apple's iPad Mini, Microsoft Surface and other similar tablets during the holiday season.
The new device, made along side with Samsung Electronics, is the first 10-inch tablet to be produced by the number one internet search engine. It will be released everywhere in the U.S. starting Nov. 13 according to the company's site.
The tablet was set to have a grand introduction similar to the one the iPad min and Surface received this year but Google was forced to cancel the event scheduled in New York due Hurricane Sandy according to Reuters.
The device will be released with a starting price of $299. The Nexus weighs a little under a pound, is 4.72 inches tall, and 7.8 inches wide.
The Nexus comes with 32GB of storage. 4.7-inch HD display screen, 1280 x 786 resolution and pixel density of 320 ppi. The device will run on either Android 4.2 or 4.1.2, something of which will be confirmed next week. It will also sport a 8-megapixel camera with 360-degree panoramic mode according to Google.

"People increasingly have more than one device, and they switch between them many times a day. Nexus, Google's hardware line for Android devices, gets rid of the hassle," said Andy Rubin, Google's Senior Vice President of Android in a blog post. "Just sign in with your Google Account and everything is there ready to go, whatever device you're using: photos, emails, contacts, bookmarks, even your entertainment on Google Play."
The company has already advertised the device to an ideal source for eBooks, has over 675,000 different apps and games, and no wires needed to sync the media options that can be stored on the device like music and movies.
The Nexus 7 can also hold over nine hours of HD video playback, withstand 10 hours of web browsing and up to 300 hours of standby time according to Google.
