Two of Ford's most iconic vehicles are going electric. Mark Fields, Ford's CEO, made an announcement last Tuesday regarding the F-150 pickup and Mustang sports car.

It was an announcement that was almost a shocker - since Ford had already revealed plans to build an F-150 hybrid back in 2014. However, this is the very first time the company mentioned a battery-boosted Mustang.

With this, fans of old-school muscle cars feared the Mustang will never be the same again. Ford assured fans that the pony car will still acquire the same power, and an even better torque compared to today's V8-powered model. The Mustang hybrid will also have a dual-power setup, modern suspension, and right-hand-drive.

On the other hand, classic cars are not the only one getting an "upgrade" from Ford. It was confirmed that every diesel-powered transits from 1998 will have a plug-in hybrid version available in 2019. Even the Ford F-150 is getting a makeover to fit the electric program's standards. The F-series truck can also be used as a V8-powered mobile generator.

They Mustang hybrid and F-150 hybrid is set to be released in 2019. Ford also released a statement regarding an all-new fully electric small SUV which will is expected to arrive in 2020. The SUV will have an estimated range of at least 300 miles. A hybrid, autonomous cab from the automaker is also expected to debut in 2021.

As of the moment, Ford sells a total of six hybrid and electric model variety in the United States alone. It was reported that the American multinational automaker delivered a combined total of 69,883 through the first 11 months last year, 2016.

While this update resulted in mixed reactions from the fans, the sixth-generation version of the Mustang will still be the same beast with modern modifications. Nonetheless, the updated hybrid system is expected to be great.
