Detroit is all set to turn into a piece of heaven for all the car lovers. Especially if one is a car enthusiast who loves beautiful designs and advanced technology, this is where it all is. The North American International Auto Show has come to Detroit and it is bringing some of the world's most innovative companies together. Here gathers the most celebrated executives and coolest designers. All the action begins at Cobo Center on Sunday and continues through Jan. 22.
To give a sneak peek, the 2017 North American International Auto Show includes three days of news conferences, two industry days and the annual charity preview to benefit area charities Friday before opening to the public Jan. 14, reported Freep.
It is expected that more than 5,000 members of the media from around the globe will be in Detroit during the auto show. Also, based on a recent survey, more than 800,000 people are expected to attend during the public days, reported Wopular.
Disney Pixar opens festivities in the afternoon with news from its popular "Cars" series of animated films. Though Lightning McQueen and his buddies are favorites to people in Detroit, it is the first time Pixar brought them to the Motor City. What can be expected is an advance look at the artistry and characters that will be featured in "Cars 3."
During the event, John Krafcik, the head of Waymo, Google's autonomous-vehicle business, will talk about the road to cars that drive themselves and avoid accidents. Also, the people attending the show will be provided with a first look at one of the first production vehicles equipped with Waymo's latest technology. This is a Chrysler Pacifica hybrid minivan built across the river in Windsor.
Venues have been booked by automakers across the city for events that night. It includes the unveiling of the all-new GMC Terrain, a new car Kia execs promise will change the brand's image forever, and an update of Mercedes' GLA small SUV.
On Monday, the winners of the 2017 North American Car, Truck and Utility Vehicle of the Year awards will be announced before dawn. There will be many more vehicles that will be unveiled that day. It is reported that Audi, Nissan, BMW, Ford and China's Guangzhou Auto all make presentations. It is also expected that some automaker will pull a trick in an attempt to steal the show.
On Tuesday, leading suppliers will showcase their latest technology at Cobo. The people can look out for a profusion of new approaches to autonomous driving and safety coming from leading makers of transmissions, tires, steering systems and more.
At the Cobo Center, a group of world's leading automotive designers will walk the floor evaluating the cars that were just introduced. The best of cars will be chosen from categories including concept car and truck, production car and truck, innovative use of color, graphics and materials for the Eyes On Design Awards, which benefit the Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology.
