According to Nyland, the Hyundai Ioniq Electric will give the Tesla Model S a run for its money. He highlights Ioniq's price advantage, which will cost customers only one-third as much as the Tesla vehicle. Nyland tested the five-door hatchback by climbing hills and snow-covered roads.

According to Yahoo, Hyundai Ioniq is equipped with light detection and ranging sensors or LiDAR. These sensors allow the car to determine its location based on detailed mapping data. The LiDARs are installed on the car's front bumpers.

The Hyundai Ioniq's series of cameras can detect lanes, pedestrians, and other cars. These cameras work with a highly accurate GPS to enable the Ioniq to stay on course with an accuracy of 50 centimeters. The car can also make a right turn and can stop at red lights when needed.

Ioniq is designed to drive itself without the assistance of a human. The level 4 autonomous car can also slow down for other traffic and pedestrians. The LiDAR sensors make all these things possible, by providing the car an 180-degree view of the surroundings ahead.
