Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Will Bring Smartphones To The Next Level; Specs Revealed, Battery Life, VR Applications, And More

Qualcomm has just revealed details about its upcoming Snapdragon 835 processor. The latest chip is expected to be installed in devices that are scheduled to launch during the first half of 2017. This iteration will greatly improve the Snapdragon line as it boasts a plethora of features and upgrades.

The 835 will be a successor to 2016 Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 which would feature more efficient components, new capabilities for VR and photo processing, and overall improved performance. The following are Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 specs.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Power Management

As claimed by Qualcomm, the new Snapdragon processor will now consume 25% less power compared to its predecessor. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 will also boast 2.5 hours more battery life on a day's use. It will also come with Qualcomm's fast charging technology, also known as Quick Charge 4.0 which is claimed to be 20% faster than its previous version, Quick Charge 3.0.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 will also come with an overcharging protection which makes the device it powers safer. The Snapdragon processor will also run up to 5 hours with just 5 minutes of charging. It is also claimed that the current chip will have a 50% power reduction compared to Snapdragon 801 which was released in 2014.

The latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 is patterned after the 10nm fabrication technology, which makes it the first chip to adapt among the Snapdragon line. In effect, the physical size is smaller which makes it perfect to be housed in thinner phones and devices with little space left due to large batteries.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Graphics and Audio Processing

On top of power management, Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 evolves the 820's VR and AR capabilities. Faster 3D graphics rendering and color range expanded to 60 times have definitely improved the new Snapdragon's graphic performance. Audio improvement is also featured as it is said to produce "true to life" sound output set in virtual environments.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Beyond Phones and Tablets

Qualcomm also says that on top of smartphones that run VR, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 will also be installed in virtual reality headsets. Performance for VR is also boosted by improving image capture via native support for optical zoom. It will also feature better autofocus. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor will be the first of its line to support 4K premium and HDR 10.
