"Last deer season was an extremely warm season across much of the country, and then we had a super, super easy winter," said Kip Adams, a director at the Quality Deer Management Association, in an interview with Bloomberg News. "We likely have more deer across much of the United States this year than we did last year."
The average number of deer's hit by drivers in the U.S. has also increased overall since 2010 as well according to State Farm. Drivers around the nation have an approximate 1 in 170 chance of hitting a deer while driving, compared to the 1 in 183 chance drivers had last year.

"We have known for quite a while that the frequency of auto insurance claims has been declining," said Chris Mullen, Director, Technology Research in the press release. "But whatever is causing that trend is obviously not impacting deer-related crashes."
