'Iron Man 3' Trailer Released: From New Suits To New Villains, What Should You Expect For The Next Installment (WATCH)

From exploding armored suits to people falling out of planes the trailer for "Iron Man 3" just screams chaos from the word go.

The new trailer released Tuesday begins with Tony Stark in an un-familiar position: lying on the ground in snow. Viewers quickly get a glimpse at a bloody Stark and how he is dealing with life since we last saw him in the blockbuster hit "The Avengers".

It is clear the next film will be much darker than fans are used to, as director Shane Black may be going for more of a "The Dark Knight" feel for this film compared to its predecessors.

It is odd to see the once boastful Stark having such a hard time, mainly due to the horrors he experienced by having to fight an entire alien population in "The Avengers". He discusses feelings of regret and feeling alone in the trailer, which could be due to the fact he actually had help with the bad guys for once and is now forced to solve problems solo again.

"I can't sleep, and when I do I have nightmares," Stark says in the trailer.

Pepper Potts, played by Gwyneth Paltrow is kidnapped in the trailer as well at the hands of what appears to be a modified Iron Man suit under the control of the newest villain Mandarin. Mandarin, who is played by Ben Kingsley, was a Chinese exile in the comic books and has never been portrayed on screen before.

What will Mandarin's main mission be in this film? If the trailer is any indication, it's to cause as much destruction as possible while ending the notion that Iron Man can do anything.

"Ladies, children, sheep," Mandarin says in the trailer. "Some people call me a terrorist. I consider myself a teacher. Lesson No. 1: Heroes. There is no such thing."

"Iron Man" 3 is due in theaters May 3, 2013 in the U.S. The film also stars Don Cheadle, Rebecca Hall, James Badge Dale and former director Jon Favreau.
