Mercedes-Benz announced yesterday the unveiling of the Mercedes GLA facelift on Jan. 9 and released the first teaser image with the refresh for its smallest crossover. It was released ahead of its reveal at the Detroit Auto Show next week.

The "fitness program" as Mercedes likes to call the GLA's facelift will bring some changes inside the cabin, although details were not yet disclosed, according to Motor1. The latest infotainment systems and quite possibly new trims and options to keep things interesting are some of the expectations as one might be in the market for a premium small crossover.

The U.S. -spec Mercedes GLA was seen with either a 208-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter or a stronger 375-hp handcrafted AMG 2.0-liter. The first one being the power source of GLA250 and its all-wheel-drive GLA250 4Matic counterpart, whereas the beefier unit from Affalterback is for the range-topping GLA45, exclusively available with AWD.

Changes to the Mercedes GLA's sheetmetal are not expected to be major, but restyled taillights and new rear bumpers to go with the redesigned front fascia should be part of the package, along with new allow wheel designs, according to Drive. There is not too much changes seen in the teaser shots aside from changes to the front bumper, air intakes, and fog light housings that are visible, along with a re-profiled grille insert and modified headlight internals.

The German company's plan whether to diversify the Mercedes GLA lineup in the United States or the crossover will lead the pack of these three flavors remains to be seen. Full information will be revealed next Monday when the facelifted version in U.S. specification will be officially presented in its unveiling in the Detroit Auto Show. Its European model will probably head to the Geneva Motor Show scheduled on early March of this year.
