Volvo And Microsoft's App Collaboration, Installing Skype on Volvo's Cars

Volvo cars recently announce their collaboration with Microsoft app in addition to Skype for Business to the 90 Series cars. This initiative makes Volvo the first ever automaker to launch an in-car productivity tool that offers such feature.

Skype for Business is actively used by millions of people at work around the world. As part of Volvo's in-car connectivity, owners will be able to have an easy access to view their upcoming meetings and participant details, but it also allows drivers to make a business call and join video meetings with one touch on the large center display.

Volvo's partnership with Microsoft will also explore the potential to integrate the virtual assistant Cortana, Microsoft equivalent to Siri into Volvo's vehicle. Volvo and Microsoft have been partnered on many different projects in the past.

Anders Tylman-Miklewlcz said, "In-car communication is something that we have worked for years at Volvo. From 1980s used of built-in handset and early 90s through to our standard Bluetooth hands-free functionality, we have understood the importance of making life easier for people on the move while keeping a firm focus on safety and minimizing driver distraction."

Volvo cars approach to the application of technology in their cars is a desire to make their customers' lives easier and safer by using the latest relevant technology in a smart way. The Swedish company continues to develop and provide visionary services and features for its growing customer base.

The goal of the Skype application to be installed into cars is to assist drivers focus on the road while remaining productive. Drivers can view all of their upcoming meetings on the cars center touch screen and tap to join business meetings.

Furthermore, Microsoft Skype for Business integration should make for a compelling addition if one finds phoning into conference calls on roads. This is just Microsoft's productivity-focused collaboration with a car maker on an in-car office solution that helps users navigate to meetings and take calls on the road.
