Last January 2016, the FCA announced that they have been eyeing production possibilities for the 2019 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. Just today, the company finally announced that they have set aside a certain budget for the project which confirmed that the model would be available soon.

The Warren, Mich., and Toledo FCA plant in Ohio have been employing about 2,000 workers which rumors pointed to a 2019 Jeep Wagoneer production underway. Finally, the FCA confirmed the rumors and announced that they have set aside $1 billion for the creation of several models by the brand.

As reported by Motor Trend, the announcement confirmed that other than the Wagoneer, the budget would also pave the way for a Grand Wagoneer and Jeep pick-up by 2020. At present, the plant is making Ram pickups but the production of which would be moved to Michigan and Warren as part of the budget plan.

The 2018 Jeep Wagoneer and 2018 Grand Wagoneer would be the highlights of production which would form part as competitions to the prevailing high-line Land Rovers in the car market of today. Warren was also pegged as the plant which would produce Ram heavy-duty pickup models initially being made in Mexico.

In other news, Jalopnik reported that the allotted budget for the plants would reinforce the U.S. as the international center for manufacturing SUV models and the truck market. Per CEO of FCA N.V. Sergio Marchionne, the plan signaled the transformation of the company's brand to respond to consumer taste and preferences with respect to trucks and SUVs.

Although this has been announced, the final call for approval would be in the hands of Fiat Chrysler and could be subject to negotiation and final approval. What's sure about the announcement is the creation of the 2018 Jeep Wagoneer and the 2018 Grand Wagoneer which may be made available by 2020.
