New MG ZS SUV Debuted At Guangzhou Auto Show In China; SUV Will Be Available In Great Britain Soon [Video]

The new MG ZS SUV, a compact sports utility vehicle, was shown at the Guangzhou Auto Show in China last month. The said vehicle was made by Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC), which had acquired British automaker MG in 2007. The new MG ZS SUV is expected to be a close rival of Nissan Juke and Mazda CX-3 or Jaguar XE in the sports utility vehicle segment.

Designed for the "Z" generation, the new MG ZS SUV proudly sports the MG badge, conspicuously placed at the center of its galvanized grill. It has horizontal lights that hug the rear pane. To make the car appeal to young people, it features voice control. Using voice commands, occupants can open or close doors and windows, play music, adjust temperature and navigate, according to Automobile.

In terms of power source, it was reported that the new MG ZS SUV will offer two engine choices. One is a 1.5-liter four cylinder engine and the other one is a 1.0-liter three cylinder engine. Both engines will be using petrol. This new MG ZS SUV is designed to appeal not just to buyers in China but also to the global market. The company will build cars with petrol or diesel engines to establish its name first, according to Auto Express.

Slated to arrive at the British market in 2018, this small SUV is part of the segment that SAIC will focus on expanding. SUVs are fast becoming popular and there is a growing market for this type of vehicle. After the new MG ZS SUV is made available in China, it will be sold in the British market. However, it was not clear yet whether the vehicles to be sold in UK will have the same design or not, according to Auto Car.

With the sales of the company growing considerably, a bigger SUV is being planned to follow the new MG ZS SUV. By making vehicles that are among the popular segments in the industry, MG and mother company SAIC might become a force to reckon with in the auto making industry not only in China but also all over the world.
